Dr Sherina BalaratnamMBBS MRCS MSc

Dr Balaratnam graduated from the University of Leicester Medical School in 1998. Her ensuing 12 year surgical career encompassed a broad range of specialties during which time she completed examinations to become a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2003. Her passion in Plastic Surgery has lead to over 5 years of practice in the field covering areas including breast surgery, burns reconstruction, skin oncology and non-surgical aesthetic treatments.

Currently working with leading London Cosmetic Doctor, Dr Rita Rakus at her flagship clinic in Knightsbridge, Dr Sherina believes in the importance of maintaining high standards as well as safe delivery of care to her patients. She keeps up to date with the rapidly changing face of cosmetic medicine by regularly attending international conferences and courses in order to continue her professional development and surgical skills. She strongly emphasises the importance of educating her patients as well as improving the publics’ awareness of the advances of non-surgical treatments for facial rejuvenation by holding regular open evenings and seminars both in and out of her clinics.

During her surgical career, Dr Sherina successfully obtained a Masters degree at the University College of London in the field of Surgical Science and Cancer Biology, with publications in several peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences. Dr Sherina’s specialist areas of interest in aesthetic medicine include:

  • Facial rejuvenation injections using Botulinum Toxin and dermal fillers (Juvederm® & Restylane®)
  • Acne and scar management using chemical peels, skin needling (dermaroller) and laser resurfacing
  • Thermage® and Pellevé radiofrequency skin tightening
